VNAIC works with Cambodia SSCA’s delegation

In order to share experiences in the transition from Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) to Aeronautical Information Management (AIM), the Cambodia State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) sent a delegation of four members to pay a visit to Viet Nam Aeronautical Information Center (VNAIC) from 24th to 27th Feb, 2014.


Sharing experiences in AIS – AIM transition

The SSCA’s delegation has representatives from Cambodia AIS and Cambodia Air Traffic Services (CATS). On Feb 24th, Viet Nam’s delegation including representatives of Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, Air Traffic Service Department and VNAIC gave a warm welcome to the Cambodia SSCA’s delegation.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced about the general overview of AIS management and provision in Viet Nam Civil Aviation sector such as current legal documents, organizational structure, documentation and equipment systems, human resources as well as AIS provision situation in Viet Nam. In addition, VNAIC’s managers also presented some new concepts on AIM including the electronic Terrain and Obstacle Data (eTOD), Aerodrome Mapping Data Base (AMDB), System Wide Information Management (SWIM), Integrated Aeronautical Database, Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM), digital NOTAM (dNOTAM). Moreover, the two sides also exchanged information on new roles and requirements for aeronautical information/data stated in Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), compliance status of countries in the Asia - Pacific region in general and two countries in particular with the AIS - AIM transition roadmap proposed by ICAO.

Within the working program, the delegation paid a site visit to such divisions of VNAIC as Technical Maintenance Division, International NOTAM Office, Map and Flight Procedure Division and AIP Division to have specific understanding on the Automated AIS system, integrated aeronautical database as well as software and tools to create Viet Nam’s AIS products.

The visit of Cambodia SSCA’s delegation enhances the cooperation in AIS between two close neighboring countries and creates the base for the development and transition from AIS to AIM.
